Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission to Host Public Sessions on Non-Motorized Watercraft
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Office of Recreation
Services and Division of Law Enforcement, Boating and Waterways Section, will be
holding three listening sessions designed to learn about issues of concern to
paddlers and others who use small non-motorized watercraft. The sessions will be
held on the dates, times and locations listed below. The format for these
sessions is a short presentation about the role and function of these two FWC
programs followed by a facilitated discussion. Some of the issues FWC staff hope
to learn more about include users perspectives on access, navigation, shared
use of waterways and safety. Sessions will be designed to explore these topics
and any other issues of interest to participants.

Listening Sessions

The
Division of Parks, Recreation and Special Events is responsible for
initiating and maintaining safe and wholesome recreational activities and
facilities for Clay County's citizens and visitors. Our Division develops
and maintains parks, playgrounds, buildings, boat ramps, recreational trails and
athletic fields throughout the County. The division of parks, Recreation
and Special Events has aggressively pursued the acquisition, development and
administration of a viable park system throughout the County.
Accomplishments

Purchased Camp Chowenwaw: 155 acre
resource based facility.

Received $100,000 Land and Water Conservation
Fund grant for Moccasin Slough- hiking/walking trail, pavilion, playground,
parking area, retention pond.

Completed $101,496 Florida Recreational
Development Assistance Program Grant for Foxmeadow Park- double tennis
court, 2 pavilions, exercise trail around softball field, soccer field,
baseball field, playground equipment and landscaping.

Received $28,100 grant from Recreational
Trails Program for Thunderbolt Park

Construction of concession/restroom building
at Twin Lakes Park

Construction of restroom at Lakeshore Boat
Ramp

Installed lighting system on t-ball field at
Carl Pugh Park and softball field at Omega Park

Acceptance of Manatee Protection Plan by the
Florida fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Acquired Budington House and moved to Main
Street Park

Completed major renovations to Cattlemen's
Concession Building at Clay County Fairgrounds.
