Ronnie Van Zant Memorial Park won first place in the Best Places for Kids to Have Fun category of the Clay Today 2023 Best of Clay.
There are as many activities at Ronnie Van Zant Park as there are hits from Lynyrd Skynyrd. Ronnie Van Zant, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s original lead singer, was tragically lost in a plane crash with other band members. His family donated the 90-acre park for families to enjoy. Choose from the playground, disc golf course, tennis/pickleball courts, basketball courts, soccer field, softball field, volleyball court, a nature trail, and a fishing pond with piers to help you get closer to catching the big one. With so much to do, you’ll want to stay and enjoy one of the eight covered picnic pavilions. For information regarding the park and reserving your picnic pavilion, please contact the Parks & Recreation office at (904) 284 or 269-6378 ext. 2.
