The Clay County Board of County Commissioners is excited to announce that the County has been awarded funding from the State of Florida to make improvements to Live Oak Lane in Middleburg, as requested by numerous Live Oak Lane residents. The improvements authorized by the State include paving the road and the requirement that a sidewalk be installed concurrently with the road paving. To satisfy the State's funding requirements and meet all road and safety standards, the County needs to acquire an additional 20' of each property that runs parallel to Live Oak Lane. The needed 20' is currently within an easement on each property for electrical lines that run along the Live Oak Lane portion of each property.
Betsy Condon, District 4 Commissioner, hosted a public meeting on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Middleburg/Clay Hill Library, 2245 Aster Ave, Middleburg, FL, 32068, for the property owners to ask any questions and provide input.
Next steps
County staff will work with affected property owners to acquire the needed property. Residents can expect to hear from the county via a letter to discuss the specific details about their property and acquisition. Pending successful right of way acquisition, the goal is for work to begin early 2024. Construction will probably take up to nine months.
