The Department of Business and Professional Regulation is the agency charged with licensing and regulating businesses and professionals in the State of Florida. Within DBPR, the Division of Hotels and Restaurants is responsible for regulating public lodging establishments in Florida, including Vacation Rentals.

The mission of the Division of Hotels and Restaurants is to protect the health and safety of the public by providing the industry with quality inspections and fair regulation.

All short-term vacation rental properties defined by Florida law as a “public lodging establishment” are required to be properly licensed.
