While you can take many mitigation measures to lessen the effects of a flood on your home, the best one is to secure flood insurance. Depending on the flood hazard in your area, the characteristics of your property, and the zoning and building codes in your community. We do have pet-friendly shelters in Clay County that may be opened during an event. When that time comes we will release the exact shelters and locations. Please keep in mind that only dogs, cats, rodents, rabbits, and fowl will be permitted. Pet vaccinations will be required if applicable.
