Each year, over 356,500 sudden cardiac arrests (SCA) happen outside of hospitals, making it the third leading cause of death in the US. In Clay County, more than 300 people experience SCA yearly and need immediate help. For extremely time-sensitive emergencies like SCA, it's crucial to notify nearby individuals ready to take quick life-saving action while also contacting the Fire/EMS response.

PulsePoint Respond

The PulsePoint Respond app lets you track the Clay County Fire Rescue 911 dispatch center and find out where vehicle accidents, fires, or medical emergencies are happening in real time. The app immediately notifies you of any 911 calls the Clay County Fire Rescue receives. It also alerts you if there's a cardiac arrest nearby and where the nearest AED is located.

The American Heart Association recommends "Hands Only" CPR because there is usually enough oxygen in the blood to keep the brain alive, and the heart just needs to be encouraged to pump the oxygenated blood to the brain. The PulsePoint app can significantly improve the chances of survival for those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest outside of a hospital by quickly informing nearby people of the need for help. Since the brain and essential organs can only survive for a few minutes without oxygen, and paramedics may take several minutes to arrive, delivering high-quality chest compressions and defibrillation within seconds to minutes is crucial. Without immediate help from bystanders, rescuers may arrive too late.
