- Pets are allowed outdoors from 8 a.m. to sunset and cannot stay overnight, cannot be in any buildings, must be kept on a leash at all times, never left unattended, have proof of rabies immunization on the collar, and you must pick up after your pet. Service dogs are allowed under titles II and III of the ADA. Please contact camp staff for more information.
- No, fireworks of any kind are not allowed.
- Yes, but please remember dogs have to be on a leash and picked up after.
- Per the rental agreement, no. But we will be happy to reschedule your rental for a later date.

No, you can’t have alcohol in any Clay County park.
No. We only have cabins, tent sites, and day-use meeting buildings. However, there may be available RV parking at the Clay County Fairgrounds.
All Clay County parks are open dawn to dusk. All community parks are open from dawn to dusk unless scheduled for athletic practices or games. To find a park visit claycountygov.com/community/parks-and-recreation/find-a-park.
Outside - Charcoal or firewood from a 60-mile radius for grilling, skewers for roasting hot dogs or marshmallows (do not use branches) insect repellent, and flashlights
Cabins and Tents - Bedding: Bunk beds 32 x 74; Ahwenassa Bunk beds 39 x 74, full size mattresses 54 x 74.
Tents - tent pads are 14x18, accommodate two-person tents or one six-person tent
Bathhouses - towels, washcloths, shower shoes, soap, shampoo, etc.
Dining Halls - All cooking utensils, disposable plates, cups (no glass), dish pan, dish soap, sponges, towels, etc.Outside - Picnic tables, barbecue grills, fire ring with benches, carts for transporting gear
Cabins - Vinyl mattresses, electricity (except our treehouses), AC/heat in the Ahwenassa Cabins and Squirrel Run Cabins, shared Dining Hall with a fireplace, range, refrigerator, tables and chairs
Bathhouses - commode stalls, sinks, hot showers, electric lights, hand soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, garbage bags
Dining Halls - standard sized range and refrigerator, fireplace inside with connecting wood-burning grill outside, tables and chairs.
Camp Chowenwaw Park (Cho’-wen-waw), is a beautiful 150-acre recreation site on Black Creek, located in Green Cove Springs near its confluence with the St. Johns River. The park offers camping, event facilities, hiking, fishing, kayak access, a volleyball court, picnic areas, a seasonal pool, a museum, a nature center, and a playground. Visitors can enjoy hiking, fishing, camping, a kayak launch, picnicking, paddle boarding, swimming, the pool (seasonal), bird watching, museum (call for hours) and dog walking. Clay County has athletic associations and sports providers that provide a variety of athletic opportunities for youth ages 4-18. These sports include but are not limited to baseball, softball, lacrosse, and football.
