Clay County Public Libraries is excited to provide the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program for families with young children in Clay County.

The goal of this program is to promote reading to newborns, infants, and toddlers while providing the opportunity for parent/child bonding through reading.

Studies show that children who are read to from an early age have higher academic success once they enter formal education in elementary school. By reading to your child now, you will provide this necessary foundation that will benefit them their whole lives.

1000 books sounds like a big number, but reading just one book a day with your child amounts to 365 a year! Before you know it you and your child will have read 1000 books and beyond!

It’s never too late to start! Every book you read counts! Every repeat of a book you read counts! Whether it’s one time or every night for a month, each time you read that book to your child they are getting the benefits of reading, language, vocabulary, and just spending time with you!

Participate in the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten by completing the registration form, filling out the reading logs, and stopping by your local Clay County Public to pick up milestone rewards for your child’s progress.
