The code update project began in the spring of 2022 with work by the consulting firm of WGI, Inc. and continued through the fall of 2023. They conducted multiple public workshops and provided the drafts of proposed changes to the code (see links at top of page).

Staff is now in the process of reviewing those changes and analyzing additional needed changes previously identified by staff. Some incremental changes may be brought forward for approval by the Board of County Commissioners in advance of the final comprehensive draft.

Concurrent with the proposed changes to the zoning code, changes to the County’s Comprehensive Plan will be needed in order to ensure that both documents are consistent with each other. Under State law, those changes to the Comprehensive Plan must be adopted prior to the adoption of the Land Development Code changes.

The final adoption of the revised zoning code will be dependent on a number of factors. Once a final draft is ready for public hearings and adoption, notice of those hearing dates/times will be posted on this page.
